Originally from India and now living in Finland, my journey with YUM began in the most ordinary place, an airport waiting lounge.
I was waiting for my flight, casually munching on my all-time favourite snack. As I looked around, I saw people of all ages, kids, youngsters, adults, grabbing snacks from the airport shelves. Chips, popcorn, nuts, all crunchy, all familiar.
Then I looked down at what I was eating.
A simple bowl of roasted makhana.
Nothing fancy.
Just homemade, crunchy, comforting, and full of flavour.
I had made it myself from raw makhana, the way I always had. I knew it was healthy, rich in plant protein, antioxidants, and fibre. Still, out of curiosity, I quickly Googled it. And there it was. Science confirmed what tradition always knew.
That moment stayed with me.
Why was this incredible snack, so nourishing and so delicious, missing from shelves around the world? Why were we choosing processed options when something this pure existed?
That’s when the idea popped.
What if we could take this humble Indian superfood to the world?
What if snacking could be both joyful and healthy?
Months of research followed. Long days. Sleepless nights. Countless trials. And finally, in Finland, YUM - Your Ultimate Munch was born in Finland.
Today, YUM brings you roasted makhana in four carefully crafted flavours, designed to suit every taste, without compromising on health. A snack rooted in tradition, made for modern lives.
